2026-27 Back-to-School Checklist

Welcome Back to School, Grandville Families!

We’re excited to kick off another fantastic school year! To help you get ready, here’s a handy checklist to ensure a stress-free start.

1. Check your elementary teacher assignment.

  • We know you’re eager to find out who your teacher is! K-4 teacher assignments will be available on Friday, Aug. 14, at 4 p.m. Log into your PowerSchool parent portal to see the exciting news. Oakestown's student schedules for grades 5-6 will be available Aug. 17.

    If you don't know your PowerSchool credentials, please reach out to your school office.

2. Get school supplies. 

3. Attend your open house or orientation.

We can’t wait to see you at our open houses and orientation events! Your school will email families with event details before the open house.

  • Grades 1-4 Open House Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026

  • Oakestown Intermediate (grades 5-6)
    • Student Visit Day on Wed., Aug. 19, from 10 a.m.-noon or 4-6 p.m. 
    • Meet the Teacher Open House on Wed., Aug. 26, from 6-7 p.m.
  • Middle School (grades 7-8)
    • Student Orientation — See the info sheet for your student's orientation time.
      • 7th Grade is on Tues., Aug. 18
      • 8th Grade is on Wed., Aug. 19
    • Open House on Monday, Aug. 31, from 6-8 p.m.
  • High School (grades 9-12)
    • Student Orientation — See the GHS summer newsletter for your student's orientation time.
    • Open House Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.
      • This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to experience a typical school day by following your student’s class schedule. Arrive 6:30-6:50 p.m. on the Canal Ave. side and enter through the auditorium door.

4. Save important dates and schedules.

5. Check your bus stop.

  • Bus stop information will be available for bus riders in PowerSchool in the Forms section on or about Aug. 11, 2026.

6. Purchase Chromebook protection.

  • If your child has a school-issued Chromebook (grades 3-12), a Chromebook Protection Plan is recommended (previously called Chromebook insurance). Here's how to purchase protection.

7. Complete annual forms and student health updates.

  • Please update your annual forms for each student. You’ll need to review last year’s health information and add any new health concerns.
    • Log into the PowerSchool parent portal.
    • Select your student, select "Forms" in the left-hand navigation bar, follow all prompts and submit.

8. Apply for education/meal benefits.

  • Breakfast and lunch will once again be free for all students.
  • Regardless of income, all families are still asked to fill out the confidential benefits application that was previously used to qualify students for free and reduced meals.
    • The district receives important funding based on these applications.
    • If you qualify, you could receive certain discounts.
    • Apply today!
