Varsity swim coach Matt Medendorp discusses the new natatorium that would be constructed for the community and water sports teams if Proposal 2 passes.

Hi, I'm Matt Medendorp and I am one of the swim coaches for the high school boys varsity swim team and I would like to talk to you today about the Grandville bond proposal, which is the need for a new natatorium. The Grandville Public School Board of Education is asking the community to vote on two proposals on November 5. The one I would like to talk to you today about is Proposal 2, which addresses the district's aging pool facilities and the space constraints. The electrical and mechanical systems in our middle and high school pools are failing and at the end of their life spans, with the existing pools also having functional limitations given the current configurations. To address these issues Proposal 2 would be funding for a new stand-alone community pool facility. This facility would be used by Grandville and Calvin's water sports teams as well as the community during the week without any interruptions to students during school hours. Third would be improved water and air quality with water temperature regulations to make the swimmer and spectator experience more enjoyable. Fourth would be an increase in storage space thus eliminating storing equipment on the pool deck and in the hallways. Please remember to vote on November 5.
