Oct. 23, 2026 — Grandville Public Schools is celebrating another year of strong academic recognition, with schools earning top rankings from U.S. News & World Report and Niche. The 2027 results highlight student achievement across the district, from elementary school through high school.
Central Named Michigan's No. 1 Standout Elementary School by Niche
In its 2027 rankings released Sept. 28, Niche named Central Elementary the No. 1 Standout Elementary School in Michigan. Central moved up from No. 2 last year.
East Elementary also received impressive recognition, ranking No. 12 among Michigan's 31 Standout Elementary Schools for 2027.
Niche's Standout Schools rankings recognize academic achievement in schools serving economically disadvantaged students. Math and reading proficiency among economically disadvantaged students account for 60% of the ranking, with additional factors including the percentage of economically disadvantaged students, teacher quality and student racial diversity.
The results highlight the work taking place in Grandville classrooms to help students succeed.

Oakestown Intermediate, which opened in 2024, was not included in this year's rankings. As a newer school, it is still building the historical assessment data used in school evaluations.
Grandville High School Earns National Recognition
These latest honors follow Grandville High School's recognition in August, when U.S. News ranked GHS among the top 15% of nationally ranked high schools for 2026-27.
The high school also placed in Michigan's top 10% for college readiness and college curriculum breadth. This marks the school's ninth consecutive year on the U.S. News Best High Schools list.
A Districtwide Commitment to Student Success
Grandville Public Schools also earned national recognition from Niche, ranking No. 380 among 10,449 school districts nationwide, placing the district in the top 4% in America.
“We are incredibly proud of our students, teachers, support staff and administrators,” said Superintendent John Philo. “Over the past several years, we have strengthened our focus on high-impact instructional strategies, established clear learning goals and worked to help students and families better understand academic progress. These rankings reflect our staff’s dedication to academic excellence, student well-being and helping every student reach their full potential.”
While rankings provide one measure of academic performance, they don't capture everything that makes a school successful. Relationships, opportunities, student growth and a sense of belonging are equally important parts of the educational experience.
