2026-27 Competition Season
Registration is open for Grandville Public Schools students in grades 4, 5 and 6 who are interested in after-school competitive robotics.
Students can participate on either a VEX IQ or FIRST LEGO League competitive robotics team.
VEX IQ
VEX IQ is one of the largest educational robotics programs in the world.
Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 can participate on a VEX IQ robotics team. Teams use VEX IQ parts to build and program a robot to compete in weekly league play and Saturday tournaments.
Season: October through February

FIRST LEGO League
FIRST LEGO League has been a Grandville tradition for more than 20 years for students in grades 4, 5 and 6.
Students build and program a robot using LEGO bricks. Teams also complete a STEAM research project and prepare a presentation explaining their project.
Season: September through December
Tournament: Saturday, November 21

Required Parent Information Meeting
A parent or guardian must attend a robotics information meeting before their child can be assigned to a team.
Meetings will be held at:
Elementary Robotics Center
4874 Canal Ave.
Near the intersection of Canal Avenue and Jacob Street
Families may attend whichever meeting works best with their schedule.

Volunteer Coaches Needed
Elementary robotics teams are coached by volunteer parent coaches. Parents and guardians are encouraged to consider coaching their child’s robotics team.
