Dear Parent or Guardian:

Happy holidays! We hope you and your family have a safe and relaxing time together over the next two weeks. We met with the Kent County Health Department this past Tuesday to analyze our local Grandville COVID-19 data and inform our decision for a return to school in January. We are encouraged by the recent trends, as both the number of cases and positivity rates have dropped in our area. Good news!

Based on this consultation with the health department, we have decided to implement the following schedule following winter break:

PK-6th Grade will return to their regular schedule of either in-person or remote learning beginning January 4, 2021. This will be your child’s learning option before the move to all remote learning prior to Thanksgiving.

Grades 7 and 8 will remain in their current remote format for the first week of January, then return to their previous in-person or remote options beginning January 11.

Grades 9-12 will remain in their current format for the first week of January, then return to their previous in-person or remote options beginning January 11.

We are excited to return to in-person learning again! Please know this is dependent on our local case numbers remaining lower between now and the start of the new year.

We are eagerly anticipating a new year — one filled with great progress and a return to a sense of normalcy. As families, your ability to endure one of the most challenging times in our history is a testament to your strength and courage. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to a great 2021!

Educationally,
Roger Bearup
