About IMAGE
The IMAGE (Identified Members of Academically Gifted Education) program serves academically talented students in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade who live in and/or attend a public or private school in the Grandville school district.
Students in the program work on projects that incorporate higher level thinking, research, and technology skills. The program is intended to serve the needs of these students by offering engaging units that challenge them while providing opportunities to both study independently in self-selected areas of interest, and interact and cooperatively learn with other students of similar abilities but who may have diverse interests.
More information about the units offered at each grade level can be found in the pages linked above.
Location
The IMAGE program is currently housed at Grandville South Elementary. Students are bused to this location for class one half day per week. Beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, the classroom for 3rd and 4th grade IMAGE students and for 5th and 6th graders attending WIN Time with Mr. Anderson will be at Oakestown Intermediate.
Schedule
Students attend IMAGE one half-day each week on the following Schedule.
Qualification
Students in 2nd and 3rd grades whose NWEA MAP Math and Reading scores average in the 90th percentile or higher for the same Fall, Winter, or Spring testing session can be nominated for further Cognitive Abilities Testing. Sessions are scheduled at their home schools throughout the month of May. Those who score in the 95th percentile or higher are invited to participate in IMAGE classes beginning in the next school year.
